Smart Mooneyline Viscometer

Smart Mooneyline Viscometer – Mooney Viscometer by Prescott Instruments

Precise. Powerful. Reliable.

The Smart Mooneyline Viscometer by Prescott Instruments is designed to determine the Mooney viscosity and characterize the processing properties of elastomers and rubber compounds. It enables reliable evaluation of the flow and deformation behaviour of rubber under defined test conditions, making it suitable for modern testing laboratories and quality control throughout the rubber production process.

This compact, high-performance instrument combines precision measurement technology with a robust construction and advanced electronics. In addition to standard Mooney viscosity tests, its advanced programming capabilities allow the investigation of the stress relaxation behaviour (Stress Relaxation Index) of material samples.

Prescott Instruments Ltd. has more than 30 years of experience in material testing. All instruments are manufactured in-house at the company's facility in the UK in accordance with ISO 9001 quality management requirements. Instrument calibrations are carried out by the company's in-house laboratory team in accordance with ISO 17025.

Operating Principle

The Smart Mooneyline Viscometer determines the Mooney viscosity of rubber and elastomer samples by measuring the torque required to rotate a test rotor within a temperature-controlled material sample.

The measurement is performed under defined temperature and test conditions. The resistance of the material to rotor rotation is recorded as a measure of its viscosity and processing characteristics.

Thanks to the high data sampling rate of its specially developed electronics, time-dependent changes in material behaviour can also be recorded accurately. This enables not only conventional viscosity measurements but also the investigation of stress relaxation behaviour.

Applications

The Smart Mooneyline Viscometer is particularly suitable for:

Quality Control of Rubber Compounds – Evaluating the viscosity and processing characteristics of elastomers and rubber compounds.

Raw Material Characterisation – Investigating the rheological properties of different rubber materials.

Stress Relaxation Analysis – Evaluating time-dependent stress relaxation behaviour for advanced material characterisation.

Production Monitoring – Monitoring consistent material properties throughout rubber manufacturing and processing.

Research and Development – Investigating and comparing different elastomer formulations and material compositions.

Standardised Material Testing – Performing industry-standard test procedures in accordance with ASTM D1646.

The Smart Mooneyline Viscometer provides a powerful and reliable solution for determining Mooney viscosity and comprehensively characterising elastomers. Its combination of robust construction, high-precision measurement technology, high data sampling rates and flexible database connectivity makes it a versatile instrument for modern rubber industry laboratories.
